WHO ARE WE?
WHAT IS THE CALL OF THE EIGHTH DAY FAITH COMMUNITY?
The Eighth Day Faith Community is one of the nine faith communities in the tradition of the Church of the Saviour, an ecumenical Christian church in Washington, D.C. We consider ourselves a part of the Christian church universal, with members from many different expressions of the Christian church: Baptists, Catholics, Lutherans, Mennonites, Presbyterians and others. We value the gifts that the many Christian traditions have to offer and believe that an openness to these different streams of Christianity allows us a richer faith.

MEMBERSHIP
Like our Sister Churches in the Church of the Saviour, we at Eighth Day have a strong commitment to what we call "integrity of membership." We are convinced that our Christian faith becomes deeper and more real when it is lived out through a set of disciplines that strengthen both our faith and our commitment to the community. This means that while everyone is welcome and encouraged to become part of, and take part in, our worshiping community, membership implies a desire to join with others in accountability for certain traditional Christian disciplines to deepen our relationships with God and with one another.
MISSION GROUPS

Mission groups are the center of life in the Eighth Day Faith Community. Mission groups generally meet once a week for 2 - 3 hours, broken into periods of worship, personal sharing, study, and work on the mission. This is where members move into close relationship during their meetings and in the context of their mission.
Membership in Eighth Day is based on commitment to Christ and response to God's call to deepen the inward journey and to serve God through actively participating in a mission group. Mission groups are the structure we have found most helpful in supporting God's individual and corporate call. Mission groups consist of at least two members who have responded to a particular call to ministry. Mission groups meet weekly to support one another in spiritual growth and outward mission.
